Categories and tags organize posts on content platforms. Categories act as broad groupings, like folders, that define a site’s main subject areas, while tags serve as specific keywords highlighting particular details, concepts, or sub-themes within posts. Together they improve navigation, help users find related content, boost search visibility, and create useful connections. Categories keep the overall structure clean by limiting posts to one or a few main groups, and tags enable flexible cross-linking of ideas.
For my mixed poker games strategy site, I will use categories such as “Game Overviews,” “Strategy Guides,” and “Lesson Concepts,” along with granular tags like “Omaha,” “Stud,” and “mixed games.” This keeps the site organized while letting users quickly locate specific tactics and poker game variants.
